The Practice employs a number of Emergency Nurses who are experienced, fully-trained nurses who specialise in minor illness and injuries and to treat emergencies, ie chest pain, health promotion and can offer repeat pill checks.

PRACTICE NURSES
A number of specialist nurses run daily clinics in the treatment rooms. In addition to routine nursing tasks, each has a specialist area including diabetes, asthma, travel, smoking and weight reduction. Your doctor will refer you to visit the nurses wherever they feel it is appropriate.

CLINICAL TRIALS NURSES
As a large, progressive Practice we take part in national and international clinical trials, to further clinical knowledge and contribute to major scientific publications. All the trials done at the Practice have national and local ethical approval and are selected so as to benefit our patients, as well as being important studies in their own right.

DISTRICT SISTERS & COMMUNITY NURSES
Previously known as District Nurses, the Community Nurses provide a specialised nursing service to patients needing care in their own homes. Community Nurses have specialist training in many areas including venepuncture, wound management, continence management, palliative care and intravenous infusions.
HEALTH VISITORS
All Health Visitors are qualified nurses, with special training and experience in child health, and health promotion and education. They offer practical support and advice in many situations, including child development, nutrition and behaviour management in the under-fives. They also run parenting skills courses and a young people’s drop-in clinic.
